Tag Container
Tag Container
A tag container is a snippet of code added to a website that acts as a central holder for multiple tags — including ad tags, analytics tags, and other third-party tracking scripts. Rather than embedding each tag individually into a site's source code, a single container element is placed on the page and all other tags are loaded through it.
Tag containers are typically managed via a tag management system (TMS), which gives publishers and marketers a way to add, edit, or remove individual tags without modifying the underlying site code directly. This approach simplifies deployment, reduces reliance on developer resources for routine tag changes, and makes it easier to maintain governance over what third-party scripts are running on a given property.
