A click is an engagement metric that records every instance of a user clicking on an ad. Importantly, a click is counted regardless of whether the user successfully reaches the destination — if the target website is temporarily unavailable, the click is still recorded.

This distinction matters for performance analysis: click counts reflect user intent and ad interactivity, but do not guarantee a completed visit or any downstream conversion. Advertisers typically pair click data with metrics like landing page sessions or conversion events to get a fuller picture of campaign effectiveness.
